Wednesday’s session (my fifth attempt at writing for an uninterrupted 2 hours) turned into a journal writing session. I really wanted to focus on getting a grip on the direction I should take and so I wrote out my goals and some thoughts related to those goals. Less than halfway in, I decided I had my stuff figured out and I got distracted. I ended up on Facebook, dwelled on some things. It look me a few minutes (read: 20) to get back on track, and then I started writing this post on making the most of your writing session. I know firsthand!
Once you have a fairly clear idea what you want to write, it’s time to take things up a notch and create a blueprint. Whereas the first part of the planning stage should be quite free-flowing, it’s now time to arrange things into a cohesive structure. Some people skip the blueprint stage altogether, and that’s a matter of personal preference and also depends on what you’re writing and why. But I find rushing ahead to write before I have a clear idea what I’m writing about often leads to dead-ends and a lot of frustration and wasted time. I like to have a blueprint for what I’m writing – or at the very least a clear idea of the beginning, middle and end. Then I can simply relax into the next step and be confident that there’s an underlying structure in place to keep me right.
But the money I make from my writing doesn’t appear automatically, and neither do the increases in income. There is only one way to make more money from your writing. And that is, to do more writing.
They may believe no one will like them. People who like others based on looks are shallow. They’re concerned with the outside appearance which doesn’t say too much. Teach your teen to look beyond the surface because they’ll find more; they may find something they don’t like. They’ll discover that the pretty or handsome ’outside’ package doesn’t match what’s inside. Liking people based on looks can backfire. Getting to know a person is the best way to find out what they’re all about.
Yes, I know I’ve just quoted Stephen Covey. But the advice applies even more to writing a book or eBook. The effort you are about to undertake will vary considerably depending on the nature of the product. Many traditional eBooks were only 20 pages in length. Or even less. And people do continue to create report-sized eBooks despite the influx of longer Book-length versions. What you are going to use the book for will greatly affect the size and style of the book or eBook. It also affects how much, if anything, you are going to charge. Which in turn also has an effect on the size. Even the format (print or electronic) will be affected by what you are going to do with the book.

Start listening practice with listening flashcards. You can make these flashcards with various software programs available now, such as Mnemosyne, or Supermemo. This lets you use MP3 recordings for one ’side’ of the flashcard. After you hear the word, you may choose to say the equivalent in your language, or to say the definition in English. Its your choice.
Work to develop your sense of humor, practice kindness, exercise patience and strengthen your ability to let go and accept what is. Take care of you. You have the right to set rules for your own comfort, to have privacy, to have time to tend to you. You cannot care properly for others when you have not cared for you.
